L3 to Provide Proven Solution for Canadian Manned Airborne ISR

ROCKWALL, Texas, February 7, 2017 – L3 Aerospace Systems announced today that it will offer a proven solution to the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) for its Manned Airborne ISR (MAISR) program. L3’s solution is derived from the company’s cutting-edge SPYDR II system, which uses the King Air aircraft tailored for the DND’s multi-INT missions. L3 MAS, headquartered at Mirabel International Airport, will collaborate with L3 Mission Integration to offer a low-risk, operationally proven and seamless King Air solution.
MAISR will provide DND with an enduring, multi-sensor manned ISR capability for both domestic and deployed operations.

“As Canada’s premier In-Service Support (ISS) integrator, L3 MAS is ideally suited to partner with L3 Mission Integration to deliver and support the MAISR solution,” said Jacques Comtois, Vice President and General Manager of L3 MAS. “Our large footprint of qualified technical personnel already located at the MAISR home base, CFB Trenton, coupled with our significant missionization and deployment experience, will allow us to offer the lowest-risk solution to DND.”

“As a world-leader in multi-INT ISR aircraft integration with an existing international support structure and supply chain, we are very well-positioned to deliver MAISR to the DND,” added Bruce Trego, President of L3 Mission Integration. “In fact, L3 has successfully delivered more FAA-certified, multi-INT King Airs on time and on budget than any other contractor in the world.”
The SPYDR II is fully certified with FAA Supplemental Type Certifications (STCs) and features the L3-developed Rapid Aircraft Payload

Deployment System (RAPDS), which is specifically designed for the rapid reconfiguration of sensor payloads.
