Jean-Pierre was born in Amqui, QC. He lived most of his youth in the city of Saint-Hubert in the Montérégie region. At the age of 12, he began his experience with the Air Cadets with 643 Saint-Hubert Squadron. In 1978, he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Following his training in administration, he served in Borden, ON. Valcartier, Montreal, Saint-Hubert, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Saint- Hyacinthe and Kingston, ON.

In 2007, after more than 28 years of service, he retired from the Regular Force at the rank of Warrant Officer. He then began a second full-time career in the Eastern Region Regional Cadet Support Unit (RCSU (E)) with the Department of Public Affairs where he served another 9 years in uniform.

In 2016, after a little over 37 years of continuous service, Jean-Pierre retired permanently from the Canadian Armed Forces. He later joined the Air Cadet League of Canada Provincial Office team where he occupies, since 2019 the role of Executive Director. In 2020, Jean-Pierre has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the Air Cadet League of Canada in appreciation for his exceptional support to the League and to the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.

Jean-Pierre is married to Mme Liette Desrochers and they have 4 beautiful children as well as 3 beautiful grandchildren.
