A FIRST IN QUÉBEC’S DEFENCE AND SECURITY SECTOR

Aéro Montréal deploys the Québec Security Defence Portal (SDQuebec.ca) to support the business development of aerospace SMEs

BOUCHERVILLE, QC, October 23, 2017 – Québec aerospace cluster Aéro Montréal, Sous- traitance industrielle Québec (STIQ) and Québec International (QI), today unveiled the Québec Security Defence Portal (SDQuébec) during the Canadian Defence and Security Market Symposium. This event, held in Boucherville, was organized by Canada Economic Development for the Quebec Regions in partnership with Aéro Montréal and STIQ.

The Québec Security and Defence Portal is a web-based tool that lists the industrial capabilities of Québec companies in the field of defence and security. This project stems from the 2016-2026 Québec Aerospace Strategy and responds to a need identified by Québec companies in this growing sector. SDQuébec’s objective is to optimize the effectiveness and tangible benefits of their business development efforts, as well as those of local and foreign prime contractors, by providing concrete and up-to-date information on opportunities linked to industrial and technological benefits (ITB).

“The defence and security sector in Québec represents a direct and indirect contribution of $9.5 billion to Canada, $2.3 billion of which is in Québec alone,” explains Suzanne M. Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal. “Aerospace companies should not neglect this market when developing their business and diversifying their portfolio of customers in the particularly competitive aerospace sector. The role of Aéro Montréal is to support SMEs and offer them tools adapted to their needs; in this perspective, the Québec Security Defence Portal will, I am convinced, be an invaluable source of information for our companies.”

SDQuébec is a collaborative, informative and proactive business platform to support, increase and optimize the development of Québec defence and security companies. It will feature business information related to four sectors: Aerospace, Naval, Land and C4ISR and Cybersecurity. A strong reference tool , SDQuébec is above all a one-stop shop where key players from Québec, Canada and abroad can connect and generate business opportunities for Québec companies.

SDQuébec will allow B2B exchanges and collaboration and includes a directory of companies, news and tools. SDQuébec also features information about a number of services such as training and support in defence and security.

The platform is available at SDQuebec.ca.
