Artificial Intelligence: Reinventing the Aerospace Supply Chain

Montréal, April 16, 2019 – Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, is today holding the Global Supply Chain Summit as part of International Aerospace Week, which runs from April 15 to 18, 2019, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Nearly 2,300 Canadian and international aerospace representatives and government officials are participating in this major event.

The Global Supply Chain Summit aims to highlight the many innovations and business opportunities created by the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the aerospace supply chain. With this in mind, the event was developed in strategic partnership with SCALE AI, Canada’s artificial intelligence (AI) supercluster dedicated to building the next generation of supply chains and to driving industrial performance.

“The convergence of AI and aerospace in Québec is promising and will enable us to bring our industrial capabilities to another level,” says the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. “As a result, our aerospace industry will maintain its position as a leader among innovative and export-oriented industries in Canada.”

“This forum represents a unique opportunity for participants to discuss the issues and business opportunities generated by the rise of AI,” says Suzanne M. Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal. “OEMs and SMEs are already working to transform their companies to tackle this transformation. Our industry is being called on to evolve across disciplines, working with other clusters, such as the one for artificial intelligence. It is this collaboration between players in sectors related to aerospace that will lead our companies to offer even more innovative solutions.”

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, kicked off the Summit today. Several conferences are on the program, including a prestigious forum with Alain Bellemare, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bombardier, and Philippe Balducchi, Chief Executive Officer of the C Series Limited Partnership.

International Aerospace Week - Montréal 2019 is being organized in collaboration with the National Research Council Canada and Norton Rose Fulbright. Airbus, Bombardier, NSERC, EY and the Fonds de solidarité FTQ are Gold partners of this year’s Summit.
