AÉROSPACE: A STRATEGIC ALLIANCE BETWEEN QUÉBEC AND MOROCCO

Skhirat (Morocco), Friday, October 5, 2018 – Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, has signed a partnership agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco’s Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Digital Economy and the Moroccan Space and Aeronautical Industries Group (GIMAS) during a Forum on “Mobilization of Moroccan skills from Canada to enhance competition in the aerospace sector”.

This agreement aims to share information about our respective challenges and to identify opportunities to participate in international and local projects and programs, training, conferences and seminars, as well as cooperation opportunities among Moroccan and Québec companies to support the consolidation of supply chains.

“The internationalization of our companies is critical to their growth. Our SMEs need to constantly reduce their costs while offering increasingly innovative products,” explains Suzanne M. Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal. “Morocco is a world-class aerospace hub and is home to many of the industry’s leading OEMs. It is an indispensable player with whom we must establish strong and lasting links for the benefit of our companies.”

The government of the Kingdom of Morocco, GIMAS and Aéro Montréal will work together to put in place mechanisms to promote the mobility of professors and students. Potential research projects will also be identified to link Moroccan and Québec researchers. The agreement will, among other things, allow companies in Québec and Moroccan incubators to share their expertise.
