Aéro Montréal proudly welcomes new prominent members to its Board of Directors

Mr. Denis Giangi, Chair of the Board of Directors, and Ms. Suzanne Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal, are very pleased to welcome new prominent members to Aéro Montréal’s Board of Directors: Mr. Philippe Rainville, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aéroports de Montréal; Ms. Janie C. Béïque, Senior Vice-President, Investments, at the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ; Mr. Richard Chénier, General Manager of Centech; and Mr. Ray Townsend, Senior Manager – Business Operations and Strategy, at Lockheed Martin Canada.

“The Québec aerospace cluster brings together and mobilizes key players in the aerospace industry around an ambitious goal: to become the most innovative cluster in the world. The inclusion of business personalities from related sectors is a necessary step to achieve this. In doing so, we are consolidating a strong, mature ecosystem and reaffirming our common desire to move forward together towards the aerospace industry of the future,” said Denis Giangi, Chair of the Board of Aéro Montréal and President of Rolls-Royce Canada.

The strength of a diversified team

Philippe Rainville, President and Chief Executive Officer, Aéroports de Montréal

Mr. Rainville has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Aéroports de Montréal since 2017 after holding the position of Vice-President, Finance and Administration, and Chief Financial Officer, since 2008. He has solid experience in finance, strategic planning and information technology acquired in large companies such as Provigo, Pepsi-Cola, Molson and Tarkett Inc. Mr. Rainville holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from McGill University and a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal. He has been a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec since 1986.

Janie C. Béïque, Senior Vice-President, Investments, Fonds de Solidarité FTQ

Ms. Janie C. Béïque was appointed Senior Vice-President, Investments, at the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ in July 2018. In this capacity, she also sits on the Fonds’ Executive Committee. She joined the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ in 2000 and has since held several management positions. Prior to joining the Fonds, Ms. Béïque was a partner with the law firm McCarthy Tétrault. Ms. Béïque holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the Université de Montréal and has been a member of the Québec Bar since 1991. She has been a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors since 2012 and obtained an MBA in 2015 from Georgetown University in the United States and ESADE in Spain. In 2016, she was named a “Leader in Innovation” by the Government of Canada. 

Richard Chénier, General Manager, Centech

Mr. Chénier is General Manager of Centech, a world-class business incubator dedicated to high technology. He is also the Director of Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovation at École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), the 2nd largest engineering school in Canada. Mr. Chénier holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychosociology and a Master’s degree in Organizational Communication. He was an executive manager with two management consulting firms, one of which he co-founded. In 2018, he was named one of the 50 Quebecers who “create the extraordinary” by Urbania magazine.

Ray Townsend, Senior Manager - Senior Manager – Business Operations and Strategy, Lockheed Martin Canada

Mr. Townsend has served as Senior Manager – Business Operations and Strategy, for Lockheed Martin Canada since March 2020. He joined the company after a distinguished 23-year career as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force. As a central point of contact within the Lockheed Martin Canada management team, Mr. Townsend is dedicated to helping Canada meet its security and defence challenges. A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, where he earned an Honours degree in Commerce and Economics, he also holds a Master’s degree in Security and Defence Management and Policy and a Master’s degree in Defence Studies.

Today’s announcement is part of the ongoing Board renewal process. With the announced appointments, Aéro Montréal now has a total of 35 directors.
