AÉRO MONTRÉAL – HAMBURG AVIATION PARTNERSHIP REAPS FOUR COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECTS

Montréal, March 1, 2017 – Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, is delighted with its growing collaboration with Hamburg Aviation, the aerospace cluster in the Hamburg metropolitan region of Germany. Signed during the Québec Trade Mission to the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2016, the collaboration agreement with Hamburg Aviation has identified four international collaboration projects.

The first project led by Aéro Montréal and Hamburg Aviation consists of establishing key performance indicators measuring the adoption of 4.0 practices and technologies within aerospace SMEs. This operational research project is being complemented by three collaborative research and development projects led by the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Québec (CRIAQ) and the ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research in Germany. These three projects involve composites of aircraft interiors, new acoustic materials, and aerospace applications of augmented reality.

Over the next few months, Aéro Montréal, Hamburg Aviation, CRIAQ and ZAL will support the teams in the implementation of these projects.

The framework agreement aims to promote collaboration among companies, educational institutions and research centres in both clusters in the areas of research and development, supply chain development and skills development.
