Aéro Montréal’s 4th Global Supply Chain Summit achieves an unmatched success

Montréal, April 4, 2017 — As the flagship event of International Aerospace Week – Montréal, the Global Supply Chain Summit today attracted nearly 500 participants to the Palais des Congrès de Montréal.

The fourth edition of the Global Supply Chain Summit, held under the theme “From Vision to Reality: Breaking Through the World of 4.0,” was organized by Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, in collaboration with several partners.

The event also welcomed at its opening Christine St-Pierre, Québec Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie. “The aerospace industry is Québec’s first exporter,” she said. “Many of our companies rank among the best in the world. I am pleased to be taking part in this activity, which is so timely given the current economic context. It’s in the interest of all players to work together to take advantage of the digital revolution that is now underway to ensure Québec maintains its enviable position on the international stage.”

“This represents a record participation for our Summit and is no doubt due to the quality and relevance of a program focused on Industry 4.0 and its concrete impact on companies,” says Suzanne M. Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal. “The digital transformation of our industry is a challenge for all players in the aerospace industry, particularly our SMEs, and is a key factor for them to improve their position in the global value chain.”

Throughout the day, well-known speakers and panelists presented concrete cases of how Industry 4.0 is being applied at the various levels of the supply chain. Participants were also able to learn how to measure their level of “4.0 maturity” and degree of success in implementing digital technology in their company.

A Demo Zone 4.0, presented for the first time at the Summit, proved to be a big success for the participants. The zone featured 24 providers of solutions related to the topics discussed during the conferences: new technologies, robotics, automation, Big Data, interconnection, financing and training. “The Demo Zone 4.0 was designed in such a way as to encourage the participants to follow a path similar to the one that is being recommended for moving from the traditional manufacturing to the factory of the future,” said Mrs. Benoît. “This concept seemed to be very appropriate for helping to demystify Industry 4.0 and we are very proud to have made it available to our participants.”
The lead partner of the 4th Global Supply Chain Summit is Emploi Québec. Other partners of the event are the NSERC, EDC, Fonds de Solidarité FTQ, Siemens and our media partner, AviationWeek.
