The State of Bavaria, in the southern part of Germany, is the most diversified and biggest AerospaceRegion in Germany. Milestone Aerospace Technologies started here, like VTOL and STOL TransportAircraft from Dornier, Fighter Aircraft and Helicopter from MBB and Space Projects like Galileo ControlCenter and ESA Business Incubation Center. Also the idea of AIRBUS was laid down and supported fromBavaria especially by the former MP Franz Josef Strauss.

Today more than 62.000 people are working in the Bavarian Aerospace Industry in over 500 companies,institutions and organizations, from OEM and prime contractor to tier 3 suppliers, Universities andResearch Institutions to most innovative Start Up Companies (attachment 1). They are supported by aworld class infrastructure in the State of Bavaria with Munich International Airport and excellent Road-, Railroad- and Waterway Systems.

The Bavarian Cluster Initiative comprises 5 areas with 18 clusters. And we bavAIRia e.V. are theexcellence cluster for Aerospace. We are the organization for the Bavarian Aerospace Industry andrepresent more than 230 Members with a yearly turnover of 5.4 B€ (attachment 2). Our task is to assistour industry in networking, support of business excellence, competitiveness and cooperation as well aseducation, international representation and strategy.
