Québec’s aerospace sector also has a dynamic network of associations.
Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Québec (CRIAQ)
The CRIAQ is a not-for-profit organization that brings together members of Québec’s aerospace industry, universities and research centres to carry out research and innovation projects based on a unique collaboration model. It is a unique innovation network fostering collaboration between industry and universities on pre-competitive research projects.
For the industry, the CRIAQ contributes to advancing useful knowledge in a unique, collaborative format and provides access to the best researchers while contributing to ensuring a succession in Québec aerospace.
Comité sectoriel de main-d’œuvre en aérospatiale au Québec (CAMAQ)
The mission of the CAMAQ is to adapt secondary, college and university-level educational programs to the evolving needs of the industry. It offers a valuable meeting place for employer and employee representatives in the aerospace sector.
On a broader scale, the CAMAQ’s mission is to foster more cooperation among employers, workers, heads of educational institutions and government officials involved in planning and worker training in the aerospace and air transportation industry.
Québec Aerospace Association (AQA)
The AQA commissions studies and organizes seminars, meetings or workshops that focus on innovation or the introduction of new technologies among SMEs in the sector.
Unions
Companies in the aerospace sector work in partnership with three trade unions:
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW)
The IAMAW, affiliated with the Québec Federation of Labour (QFL), represents 15,000 members in the following sectors: aerospace, air transportation; rail industry; household appliances; metallurgy; various industries.
Communications, Energy & Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP)
The CEP represents 150,000 Canadian workers employed in several key sectors of the economy.ie.
Canadian Auto Workers Union
The Canadian Auto Workers Union, the union for automobile, aerospace, transport and other workers in Canada, represents more than 260,000 workers from coast to coast.

The Québec’s aerospace cluster has the support of various levels of government for its development, growth and influence.
Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Québec
The Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Québec promotes the long-term economic development of Québec regions. The agency provides direct assistance to Québec SMEs by providing consulting services and financial aid. It also promotes regional business communities, and organizations that support them.
The Québec Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade
The Ministry’s mission is to support economic development, innovation and exports, as well as research, by promoting coordination and cooperation among various stakeholders in the economic, scientific, social and cultural fields with a view to creating jobs, economic prosperity, scientific and sustainable development.
Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy is responsible for municipal organization and regional development. Its mission is to support the administration and development of municipalities, regional governments and metropolitain areas using a sustainable and integrated approach for the citizens' benefit.
Montréal Metropolitan Community (MMC)
The MMC is a planning, coordination and financing umbrella organization for 82 municipalities. One of its objectives is to foster a common and shared vision for the Greater Montréal area, backed by an economic development plan and a coherent urban development master plan aimed at ensuring the region can compete on a global basis.
